The answer is “Yes” as long as you are comfortable wearing it. Let’s say you are comfortable wearing your necklace because it was given to you by someone you love so much such as your parents.

When somebody will criticize you of wearing that particular cheap jewelry and you told them why, they will realize that you are wearing it because it has “sentimental value” – a value that has incomparable monetary price.

However, the answer can be “No” especially when you are concern about your health. The explanation is discussed further down below.

The word “cheap” has a strong relationship to the word “quality”. So in terms of products, the common perception is that cheap monogrammed necklaces that are of low quality won’t last long enough or it can be easily damaged.

Aside from durability, the design also looks like childish. Due to these aspects, the cost of buying them will only cost you cheap amount of price.

However, as already stated above, when it comes to people that notices your necklace, they will have different perspective.

To them, the basis of their judgment is solely the design of the pendant and how it perfectly matches your outfit. It does not matter to them even if you really bought it for a thousand dollars from a jewelry store.

If it looks bad on you then their conclusion says that it’s cheap. This time, their judgment is what dictates the price. Thus as an expert's suggestion, the best designs and affordability comes in the form of acrylic monogrammed necklaces.

Why Avoid Super Low Cost Monograms?

It is common to a certain individual to judge a piece of jewelry item as cheap if it has such poor design. There are indeed a lot of jewelries out there that are quite expensive in price but they fail to deliver the quality design that it deserve.

As a result, it often gives the wrong impression of being cheap.

So in order to avoid cheap looking monogrammed necklace, here are the following factors that must be considered:

1. Avoid Childish Design

Any piece of jewelry with childish design are meant for children to wear. Aside from that, no one will ever think of children wearing expensive type of jewelries.

Thus, you have to stay away from those monograms with multi-color designs (like a rainbow) especially those that comes with added extra figures such as hearts, flowers or any fantastical creature.

2. Avoid Monogrammed Necklaces with Beads

Improper use of beads on a monogrammed necklace can make it look like a home-made type of jewelry. You have to avoid those that have medium to large beads but there can be some exception for those that have small beads.

Although, the beads must be made from semi-precious stones and not just some kind of glass or plastic.

3. Inspect for Edges and Corners of the Pendant

Some monogram pendants are roughly made which makes them look so cheap. This is the reason why you should closely inspect the jewelry to make sure that it has smooth surface and have clean edges.

4. Avoid Metal that is so Bright and Shiny

Today, majority of cheap monogrammed necklace are made from inexpensive alloys or even plastic coated to make it like metal.

Some professional jewelry makers can actually create marvelous piece of jewelry items from such materials so how can you differentiate it from the authentic?

Any piece of jewelry that are made from gold, silver or bronze when polished are shiny but “not too shiny”. Thus, you have to choose those that are slightly darker metals than those that are really light-colored or bright metals.

You have to know that a slightly darker tone adds to the expensive quality of the jewelry.

5. Choose the Appropriate Weight and Size

It is a common impression that jewelries made out of heavy metals look and feel more expensive. While, those that are lightweight are considered cheap.

However, a piece of jewelry that will really look expensive must have a weight that is appropriate to its size. Let’s say that you have a large monogrammed necklace with a long chain hanging it on your chest.

As you move around, your pendant must have a perfect sync to your movement. But, when its flopping around like it is made out of aluminum foil then it’s going to look like cheap.

6. Avoid Metals that can React and Stain your Skin

Nickel and silver can stain your skin but among the worst type of metal is copper because it can turn your skin to green. Gold do rarely stain but majority of jewelry manufacturers are mixing other types of metals to make the jewelry sturdier.

Being Cheap can be Hazardous to your Health

When it comes to cheap monogrammed necklace, you might be surprised to know that wearing it can have deadly consequence. This does not only apply to monogrammed necklaces but to all sorts of other jewelries around.

Despite of their very low price and well-crafted designs, it turns out that these crappy jewelries are actually poisoning us.

The Ecology Center (non-profit organization) had performed an experiment to test how safe to wear jewelries that are available in the market today.

So they gathered every possible type of jewelries from different stores that are geared towards children and adults for the test.

As a result, they found out that cheap jewelries are the once that contain dangerous materials such as lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury, chlorine, arsenic and some other nasty stuffs.

Therefore, you are far better off avoiding those super cheap jewelries and save your money until you have enough to buy one among the safe ones.
